Getting your bike ready to ride
Does your bike need some TLC? Before riding, be sure to check that everything is in working order.
Do some basic maintenance yourself - here are some great guides from the League of American Bicyclists.

2. Brush up on your essential cycling skills
Knowing and practicing some essential biking skills will help give you confidence on two wheels.

3. Find an appropriate route to ride
When first starting, it's best to find quieter routes where traffic is slower. Our region also has several great trail connections:

Confidence while cycling comes with practice, so enjoying several rides on quiet streets, parks and multi-use paths, etc., will help increase yours.
5. Join a local bicycle club or group!
