Bike More Drive Less

We believe everyone should have safe and reliable transportation choices. A community’s infrastructure should support residents of all ages and abilities to make trips by walking or cycling because it is convenient, affordable, and promotes a healthy lifestyle.

When communities invest in sidewalks, bike lanes, trails, crosswalks, and public transit, it promotes health and equity and reduces carbon emissions.

Lower Merion Township is partnering with GVF, a nonprofit with 32 years of mobility planning expertise, on the Bike More Drive Less project.

The project aims to improve biking conditions for residents and employees by identifying potential improvements to biking infrastructure and supporting the Main Line Greenway.

Through strategic planning, key stakeholders, and community members, the project will help enhance biking throughout Lower Merion Township.

The Bike More, Drive Less project supports Montgomery County’s bicycle plan, Bike Montco. Bike Montco includes design improvements and key policies for bicycle safety, comprehensively addresses the current bicycle transportation needs of the county. It does this by examining existing demographic and road conditions and routes and bicycling destinations, culminating in a countywide network of strategic planned bicycle improvements utilizing state, county, and local roads, and trails.

With the information in Bike MontCo, and Lower Merion Township’s work on the Main Line Greenway, Bike More Drive Less will help support the adoption of the Main Line Greenway as an official bicycle route in Lower Merion Township, while also addressing stress points along the current route.
